On the beautiful American island of Guam, the first full day of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit 2016 is in full swing at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort under the theme of “Exploring the Secrets of the Blue Continent.”

A record number of delegates from 36 countries are attending this important event.

The Guam Governor and the Guam Tourism Board Chairman hopes this event will reveal one of the best kept secrets in tourism that Guam is a stand-alone tourism destination with a unique culture and a safe environment.

It was noted that their tourism plan, named Guam 2.0, needs to be shared with the world. Two million tourists will mean a billion dollars in revenue for this American island in the Western Pacific that is known as the first place in the world where America starts its day.

The keynote speaker for the event was none other than the Seychelles Minister for Tourism an Culture, Alain St.Ange, who stressed how important it is for islands to work together and the importance of cultural festivals like Seychelles “Carnival of Carnivals.” He said events, such as his country’s Creole Festival and what it did for Seychelles is an example of how important it is to keep the name of the tourism country on the global calendar.

Minister St.Ange also stressed the connection with eTurboNews as a media partner, has opened Seychelles to the media world around the globe. He added that Seychelles is proud to be a responsible custodian of the environment and is a pleased to be a founding member of the Hawaii-based International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP), a grassroots travel and tourism coalition of global destinations committed to quality service and green growth.

The event runs from May 18-21.
